06 11 30- Argentina recognized the Armenian Genocide

With 173 favorable votes and 2 abstentions, the Argentinian Parliament recognized the existence of the Armenian Genocide on November 29, 2006.

Argentina is the second country of the South-American continent (first was Uruguay) to qualify the Armenian case of Genocide.
The law authorizes the employees of public organizations of Armenian origin to have the birthday day freely to assist and to take part in activities in relation to the commemoration of the tragedy.
It also establishes that the pupils of Armenian origin of the primary and secondary public schools will be able to go away on this same date.
