06 04 11 - EU’s INTENTIONS CONCERNING SOUTH CAUCASUS PRAISEWORTHY, RMENNIAN PM STATES
YEREVAN, April 10. /ARKA/. The EU’s intentions concerning the South Caucasus are worthy of appreciation, RA prime Minister Andranik Margaryan stated at his meeting with EU Representative to the South Caucasus Peter Semneby.
“The Armenian side wants Armenia to be an independent delegation of the European Union, considering the much larger scale of the EU New Neighborhood Policy in Armenia,” Margaryan said.
Pointing out successful and effective elaboration of the plan of action under the New Neighborhood policy, Margaryan expressed hope that after the successful completion of the 3rd round of negotiations in May 2006 the approval of the plan will not be delayed.
He added that Armenia is actively harmonizing its legislation with the EU’s legislation.
In his turn, Semneby expressed satisfaction with being appointed EU Representative to the South Caucasus when the South Caucasus-EU relations entered a new stage.
He pointed out that the EU is interested in all the conflicts being settled as soon as possible. Semneby pointed out that he will shortly pay another visit to Armenia as part of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs’ visit.
He stressed that as EU Representative to the South Caucasus he will be involved both in the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement and in the consolidation of rule of law and judicial eforms. P.T. –0--
