Baku. Mahbube Gasimbeyli -APA. European Commission has responded the statement, addressed to the EC official representative during the protest actions organized by the Coordination Council of Azerbaijani Organizations
of Benelux (CCAOB) in front of Armenian embassy to Belgium and European Commission on the 16th anniversary of Khojali tragedy, demanding European institutions officially to recognize the tragedy as genocide.

In its letter to CCAOB, the European Commission recognized on behalf of EC president Jose Manuel Barroso that the tragedy, bloody action and human
drama took place in Khojali town, Fuad Humbatov, first secretary of Azerbaijani embassy to Belgium and Luxemburg and CCAOB honorary chairman told APA. "For the first time, such reliable organization as the European Commission used in its official letter more objective phrases about Khojali tragedy", said Humbatov. EC underlined that it condemned all wars and
outrages, as well as actions like the bloody event described in the address.
"Tragic facts happened in Khojali are reminding us every day that war is the sufferings, losses and cries in both sides. Just for that reason, European
Commission supports solution of the conflicts through the negotiations and dialogue between the all sides. Nagorno Karabakh is not exception. We will use all opportunities in future to call on the sides to achieve soonest and peaceful solution of the conflict".
Humbatov commenting the letter said that the world has already started to recognize the Khojali tragedy as genocide and crime against humanity. "We should carry out the work of recognition every day, but not only in every February.
