Ankara to Host Forum for Turkic-Speaking Nations

[1]ANKARA (Anatolia News Agency)–Journalists and representatives from media outlets from across the Turkic world will gather in Ankara next week for a two-day media forum starting December 21, a statement from Turkey’s Directorate General of Press and Information said Thursday.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is expected to deliver a speech on the first day of the forum, which will also be attended by Turkish State Minister Bülent Arinc, Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, the head of the Turkish Foreign Ministry’s Center for Strategic Research, Bulent Aras, and the director general of Press and Information, Murat Karakaya.

During the sessions to be held as part of the forum, issues such as the media’s effect on democratization in the globalization process, the media and nongovernmental organization’s role in improving economic, social and cultural cooperation in the Turkic world, the media’s position in the Turkic world and its role in public diplomacy will be discussed, the statement said.
